In what is the largest venture capital award in San Diego this year, Brain Corp, a NOVO Engineering client, has raised $114 million dollars in Series C funding. Brain Corp is a San Diego-based software company that develops intelligent, autonomous systems to automate commercial equipment. The first commercial application of Brain Corp’s proprietary operating system is EMMA (Enabling Mobile Machine Automation), an award-winning artificial intelligence system that autonomously drives commercial floor-cleaning equipment. NOVO performed sensor mounting and tuning, integration of navigation technology, and other mechanical engineering services on an accelerated schedule and following a process that generates predictable results, enabling Brain Corp to create test hardware and execute successful product demonstrations, which were key factors in generating funder interest.
The funders, led by SoftBank Vision Fund, also included Qualcomm Ventures, Brain Corp’s first institutional investor. Brain Corp is planning to incorporate its operating system into Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon mobile platform.
