3D PRINTER DEVELOPMENT

The skills gained by NOVO’s team during decades of experience with digital printing are a natural fit for 3D printer development. These skills include system and precision engineering, motion control, image data handling, printhead drives and servicing, fluid management and high-volume manufacturing of electromechanical products.

INKJET-BASED 3D PRINTING

NOVO’s team has designed, built, and supported several generations of ultra-violet (UV) curing ink printers for outdoor signage. This experience was quickly leveraged into efficient hardware and software development for 3D printing with industrial printheads from vendors such as RICOH. Customers have access to a team that is intimately familiar with all the practical details of building a commercial system around these printheads, including specialized knowledge on mercury vapor and LED illuminators.

FILAMENT EXTRUSION-BASED 3D PRINTING

NOVO’s engineering experience with vector motion control began with pen plotters. This experience, combined with knowledge of a variety of precision fluid-dispensing systems, make NOVO’s team a great fit for development of 3D printers based on filament extrusion.

NEXT-GENERATION 3D PRINTING

The experience on conventional 3D printing combined with prior experience on web paper path control have allowed NOVO’s team to make strong contributions to next-generation products that are built around continuous motion concepts.
